Regular maintenance is key to maximising uptime. Here are some key tips:

• Pre-cool the refrigerated compartment before use.
• Ensure products are loaded at the correct temperature.
• Avoid running the unit with doors open for loading or delivery.
• Minimise door opening times and maintain proper air circulation around the load.
• Keep strip curtains (if fitted) in place and check door seals regularly.
• Use standby leads in good condition and never plug in a live lead.
• Perform a manual defrost on the last return journey of the day.
• If using a two-compartment fan kit, ensure the return air aperture is clear.

All of our fridge vans come with warranties ranging from 12 to 36 months, depending on the fridge unit manufacturer and the OEM of the van.

The fridge unit warranty is determined by the manufacturer of the refrigeration system, while the van warranty depends on the OEM manufacturer.

We offer service contracts that ensure both the fridge unit and CoolKit conversion remain covered, provided the van is serviced within the first 6 months. Any additional issues with the van itself will be covered by the OEM warranty.

Our electric fridge vans feature an independent refrigerated battery power system, separate from the vehicle’s main battery. This ensures that the refrigeration system operates efficiently without affecting the vehicle’s driving range.

The time it takes for a CoolKit fridge van to reach the desired temperature depends on several factors, including:

• External ambient temperature: Higher temperatures outside may affect how quickly the van can cool down.
• Type and amount of goods loaded: Heavier or more perishable items may require more time to cool.
• Target set temperature: Lower target temperatures may take longer to achieve.
• Pre-cooling of goods: If goods are pre-cooled before loading, the refrigeration system will reach the desired temperature faster.
• Any ambient foods in the load space: Warm items in the load space will increase cooling time.

We use extruded polystyrene insulation that is approximately 60% lighter than competitor materials like PET. That means that our fridge vans, are on average, 100kg lighter than those that use traditional wood and fibreglass insulation methods. Our fridge vans are more productive and efficient as a result, as they can deliver an additional 1.5 tonnes of produce each year.
