CoolKit is urging anyone in the market for a new van to pre-order right now or miss out.
Stock levels across the UK have hit an all-time low and even orders made right now have an expected delivery time between 6 and 12 months.
Rupert Gatty, CoolKit’s CEO, said: “It’s no secret that the UK van market is dealing with a frustrating backlog as a direct impact of Covid-19.
“A shortage of raw materials, coupled with semi-conductor supply issues have affected production volumes and caused delays on all makes and models of vehicles.
“Yet the demand for vans is higher than ever, particularly with the rapid growth of home delivery service businesses responding to the recent crisis.”
Pre-empting this issue early in the year, CoolKit swiftly invested more than £2.7m in new van stock, ready to meet the most urgent demands of its customers.
Many of those vehicles are secured and slowly starting to filter through to our Lancashire factory in order that we can fulfil existing orders.
But fulfilling any requests for new orders is proving difficult.
Rupert said: “Everyone is in the same boat right now, and it is near impossible to get stock from anywhere.
“We never want to leave our customers disappointed, which is why we felt it important to warn anyone considering buying a new van not to delay a moment longer.
“Right now, we’re anticipating fulfilment in the latter part of 2021 or Q1 of 2022. If you delay it will certainly be Q2 or beyond.
“We have a small number of vehicles due to arrive with us in the next few months, but we don’t expect them to be available for long. We really do urge you to act now.”
All the vans we currently have available – including Vivaros, Relays and Sprinters – are listed on our website with ETAs.
We have also committed to orders of a number of electric vehicles, including the Maxus e Deliver 3 and 9 and the Vauxhall Vivaro-e, which will be of benefit to businesses operating in ULEZ and CAZ areas.
