CoolKit is continuously involved in improving its processes with the intention of increasing productivity and performance.
As part of this commitment Chris Ellor, CoolKit’s Manufacturing Manager, took part in the Manufacturing Institute’s highly-respected ‘Accelerated Route To Lean Manufacturing’ programme.
The five-week course was much more than a masterclass in Lean thinking and problem solving with Chris working through 10 modules which re-enforced his skills, knowledge and understanding of best practice.
The training helped Chris look at issues in a new light as he learned how to achieve greater efficiency by reducing waste, refining processes to maximise time and efficiency, and increase value.
Chris, who joined CoolKit in October 2022, has already put what he learned into practice and has applied his new-found knowledge into increasing and improving his level of management to drive further engagement and throughput at our Burnley site.
This year has seen the number of manufacturing assets in Burnley has doubled. Panels manufactured at the Farrington Place site are later assembled at our Blackburn plant while others are part of the conversion kits exported to 10 countries.
Chris’s enhanced knowledge has equipped him well for the continuous growth in production at Burnley.
He says: “As our operation grows so does the need for organisation, communication and efficiency. The course gave me a real toolkit to help with these challenges and allowed me to discuss ideas with people from other companies going through similar journeys.”
CoolKit will shortly be further improving its production efficiency by appointing a CI facilitator.
